JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Georgetown (Washington, DC) Cooperative Preschool seeking Lead Teacher/Director to run their daily program for 1-2 year olds and their parents. The Lead Teacher/Director is resposible for the daily running of the preschool. Duties include, but are not limited to: performing various administrative tasks, creating monthly curriculums, supervising teachers, acting as a teacher him/herself, communicating with parents etc.

 

Hours are 8:30-12:30 daily at school with additional administrative tasks done after school. We offer competitive salary and benefits.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must posess a Bachelor's or Master's Degree of Early Childhood Education, and have at least one year of experience in an early childhood development setting.

Early Learning Center Director Job Announcement

 

Director: Responsible for start-up development and daily operations of a 200 child/family research/teaching/service early learning center providing full-day child care, school age care, and family support services; responsible for the coordination of research activitiesconducted by university faculty and undergraduate and graduate practica activities. Responsibilities will include oversight of renovation of facility, development of program guidelines and procedures, development and implementation of business plan, management of the fiscal operations of the Center, hiring and supervision of administrative and program personnel.

Requirements include a masters degree with at least three years direct services with children and families, and five years administrative experience in a human services, health, and/or education programs. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, managerial, and supervisory skills required. Experience with program start-up and grants writing essential. Experience collaborating with public, not-for-profit, and private service agencies required. Ability to work with a highly diverse workforce and consumer clientele required. Experience conducting or assisting with research greatly preferred. Knowledge of child care, child development, and family support programming greatly preferred. Knowledge and experience with fund raising also preferred.

Responsibilities:

The center director is responsible for the development and operation of the child care center. Interview, hire, schedule, and train staff; assess & evaluate staff and center; supervise maintenance and cleanliness of center; maintain licensing & accreditation standards; maintain proper teacher/student ratios; manage budget; maintain files; implement and maintain age appropriate curriculum; and submit timely reports.

Qualifications:

BA/BS degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. Experience in ECE programs; prior supervisory experience or a demonstrable knowledge of supervision; excellent organizational and communication skills; computer proficient; ability to take initiative and problem solve; an ability to work independently; knowledge of Subsidized and Federal Programs; and knowledge of the budget process and fiscal responsibilities.
